Madrigals
The Millbrook High School Madrigals are a mixed auditioned ensemble that typically ranges from 25-35 members.
Represented in this group are sophomores through seniors who dedicate themselves–year round–to daily rehearsals and
who average twenty to thirty performances a year. These performances include Duke Chapel, the NC Executive Mansion,
State Capitol Building, four ticketed concerts at Millbrook High School, as well as many other school performances. In
recent years, they have performed and participated in Master Classes in New York, Atlanta, Washington D.C., Boston,
Chicago, Nashville, New Orleans, Orlando, and Philadelphia singing for such notable conductors as Simon Carrington (Yale),
Z. Randall Stroope (composer), Daniel Bara (UGA), Eric Nelson (Emory University), Ann Howard Jones (Boston University)
and many more. They appeared on WRAL TV for their annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony in 2012. The Madrigals
receive consistent Superior ratings at NCMEA Large Festival in both performance and literacy. The Madrigals were
extremely honored to present at the 2012 NCMEA Conference. All off-campus performances require completion of a
parental consent form. Download the Parental Consent Form
Each year the Madrigals take a Spring trip to a different city within the U.S. where they perform as well as participate in
university Master Classes with elite conductors.
Women’s attire for the Madrigals is a long black dress, and men’s attire is a full tuxedo, both purchased through the chorus
department.
Students may participate in fundraisers to help cover the cost of the spring trip and attire.
